Grandmother's Empowerment Groups with Jane Henderson usually meet on the first Saturday of the month (check schedule) from 1-3, in the 3rd floor studio of the Healing Circle. This is a wonderfully nurturing group. Jane tells the story of the Grandmothers, leads us in the Dance of Creation, several meditations, such as the net of light, and reads the messages from the Grandmother's current for that month. This is  not just a group for grandmothers, it is a group for all ages of women who would like to be empowered or receive the messages from the Great Council of Grandmothers.

Jane Henderson is a licensed Social Worker in private practice in Woonsocket, and a Certified Eden Energy Medicine Practitioner in part time practice at the Healing Circle.

Meditation Group with the Providence Zen Center

Fourth Street Zen Group

Come practice Zen meditation on Tuesday nights from 6:00-7:30 on the East Side of Providence. The Fourth Street Zen Group is an affiliate sitting group of the Providence Zen Center. At least once a month a senior teacher joins us and offers one on one interviews, usually the third Tuesday of the month. Beginners are especially encouraged! Please email fourthstzen@gmail.com for more information or visit the Providence Zen Center website: www.providencezen.org.

Insight Meditation on Thursday Nights

The Insight Meditation Community of Providence is a growing
community dedicated to supporting the practice of insight (vipassana)
meditation and the study of the dharma, the Buddha's teachings on how
to live a fulfilling and helpful life that addresses the suffering of
each person and all beings.
Vipassana meditation, which can be translated as insight
meditation, is a simple yet profound practice from the teachings of
the Buddha.  It encompasses two interwoven phases: the development of
tranquility (shamatha) that makes way for clear seeing (vipassana) of
things as they really are.  The practice helps participants cultivate
deeper awareness that fosters compassion for self, others, and the
world.
We gather weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 PM for 30
minutes of sitting meditation practice followed by a dharma reading or
recorded dharma talk.  Both experienced meditators and persons new to
meditation are warmly welcome.  For anyone new to meditation, optional
brief instruction is provided at 7:10 PM.  The meditation hall will be
open and silent beginning at 7:15 for those who prefer to sit for
slightly longer.
For those who have some meditation experience, possibly including
some experience with intensive silent retreats, we also have a monthly
First Sunday Extended Practice, a monthly half- day of silent sitting
and walking meditation.
Donations to support the expenses and growth of the community are
warmly invited and gratefully received.  For those wanting a suggested
amount to donate, consider $5-10 for the weekly Thursday sitting and
$10-25 for the monthly Extended Practice.  However, whether and how
much to donate is entirely your choice.
We look forward to welcoming you to our community of practice and
in growing together in clear-seeing, wisdom, and compassion.
